I arrived at HeenaAgrima Studio at the beginning of July for a two-month internship filled with curiosity and excitement. On my very first day, I was asked to develop a project on a subject of my choice. That freedom was both exciting and challenging — what would I focus on? At first, I thought about knitting, since I’ve always loved working with my hands. Soon, however, the idea of crochet came up, and I decided to take it forward.
When I began, I didn’t know how to crochet at all. It felt intimidating at first, and I often wondered where this project might lead me. But slowly, as I picked up the yarns and started experimenting, I discovered the joy of exploration. I played with different stitches, tried out unusual compositions, and even added beads and sequins to see how they could change the texture. It was in these little experiments that I realized imagination was guiding me more than any set plan.
Every day brought something new. Creating small swatches became a way to test techniques, but also a way to build my confidence. With each attempt, I felt myself improving and, more importantly, enjoying the process. Crochet became less of a task and more of a playful adventure.

One of the most special moments of this journey was when I had the chance to teach crochet to others in a workshop at HeenaAgrima, where the studio also conducts sessions on natural dyeing and eco printing. These workshops often introduce participants to materials like mordants, tannin, and natural dyes, which are essential in preparing fabrics for plant-based colors. At first, I was nervous — teaching when you are still learning can be daunting. But as the session unfolded, I found joy in sharing what I knew. Watching others engage with the yarn and discover the craft for themselves was incredibly rewarding. That day remains one of my best memories at the studio, not only because I taught something, but because I learned so much from the experience too.
Now, as the internship comes to an end, I feel proud to look back on this colorful and memorable chapter. I decided to conclude my project with the creation of a crochet top, my first finished piece. Designing it, experimenting with patterns, and even adding crochet cuffs felt like a personal achievement, a tangible symbol of two months of growth, patience, and creativity.
What I loved most about working at HeenaAgrima Studio was the freedom I was given to explore and experiment without limitations. That openness allowed me to push boundaries, make mistakes, and discover new possibilities including all essential parts of the creative process. Being surrounded by textiles and processes like naturally dyed clothing, eco-friendly fashion techniques, and even seeing how dye kits make these practices accessible at home, added a deeper connection to sustainability, making my time here even more meaningful.
This experience has not only given me a skill I can carry forward but also taught me the value of slowing down, working with my hands, and trusting my imagination.
Merci encore pour cette belle aventure !
