Our Indigo Workshop is an immersive introduction to the world of natural indigo dyeing, combining history, science, and hands-on experimentation. Participants explore the fundamentals of indigo fermentation, vat making, and traditional dyeing techniques while learning about the cultural and environmental journey of indigo through discussions and visual references.
The workshop includes a demonstration of a fermented banana indigo vat alongside the creation of a faster iron 1:2:3 vat to help participants understand the basics of vat preparation and maintenance. Participants also experiment with Shibori resist-dyeing techniques before dyeing their own scarves and tote bags using natural indigo.
